Your receive a prescription for Metronidazole 250mg/5mL po qid 240mL. You find that you will have to compound this using 500mg tablets. How many tablets will be needed to fill this order completely?

I came up with 24 tablets.

250mg/5ml translates to 1000mg/20ml per day since it's 4 times a day

each tablet is 500mg so it takes 2 tablets a day which equal 1000mg

So if you divide up 240ml by 20ml (5tsp each dose) daily, the medication will last for 12 days, which also means that 12,000 mg will be the total dosage for the 12 days of treatment.

So I put 2 tablets (1,000 mg) for each day and I came up with 24 tablets...which equal 12,000 mg...120 tablets equal 60,000 mg which will be too much for this course of treatment...
